Change Your Prayer Direction This Year
Hello beloved! I pray you are doing great and your year is already shaping out according to your heart\’s desires. Or, should that read according to His desires?
In this blog post today, I would like to \’talk\’ about prayer and how you need to learn to pray with confidence and change your prayer direction.
Anyone and everyone is qualified to pray. There are no special people qualified to undertake this prayer task on behalf of others. We all can pray . But prayer is one area of a believer\’s life which continues to be a mystery, or a hard to handle discipline, let alone to pray with confidence.
Most people would rather not indulge in this area but ask others to pray for them and on their behalf. Usually the obstacle to prayer is our own selves. We think one needs a special skill or even special words to pray to this big mystery God.
Know this, prayer can change your life. That\’s why in this year you can experience a new dimension of prayer.
Take a look at this article:
God is inviting you to experience a new dimension of prayer. We read this in Psalm 4:1 : “Answer me when I call to you , O God who declares me innocent. Free me from my troubles. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer.” (the Bible, NLT) We […]
We may sometimes cry out when it seems like God isn’t hearing. Faced with His silence, we insist, beg, and raise our voices, a bit like a hungry or frightened child clamoring for his/her mother.
Lisa Whittle, the author of 5-Word Prayers, explains that “prayer is the perfect symphony of child seeking with whole heart and Father responding in tender attentiveness. This was God’s plan when He created a way by which we could come to Him with our needs, expressions of love, and deepest laments.”
If you don’t know where to start, why not pray just a simple prayer with a sincere heart? God wants you to speak to Him like a friend. He also wants to speak to you! And He’ll respond in different ways to your outpouring of love.

Have you read through that article or listened to the audio in that link I have shared above?
In the last few days as I was researching on content to write for my blog this week, I fell upon this scripture; Matthew 26: 36-46. This was just before Jesus was arrested in Gethsemane. The scripture is about how He fervently prayed before taking up that cruel death on the cross for our sin.
Do you know why Jesus prayed the way he did? He understood his calling and purpose in this world. He knew his mission and also understood that he was the only one given that purpose and assignment.
Look at his sequence of prayer that night in the garden. First he went with all the eleven to the garden to pray, then he went further with only three of them, then, finally he went even further to get into deeper prayer with his father but this time by himself.
I pondered this and I got this understanding, though I am still asking for further revelation. This is what I have learned.
Can Prayer Change Things?
You bet it can! As we seek to experience new prayer direction in 2020, it will not be business as usual. Each one of us on a very unique personal level must go further and deeply further in our intimacy with father God to get to understand his call and purpose for our lives.
Hey I love the sound of that word. Intimacy. When we draw closer to god (He is always very close to us by the way), we get more intimate with him. When we get more intimate with him our love for him grows bigger, better and we gain more confident to speak to him the way we would chat with our natural dad. We can look up to this God and no longer be fearful. He will not be a mystery God anymore and ready to send us to hell. But we can now confidently call out and say, \”Abba father\”!
When we have that intimate experience, prayer and faith will come easily. Our prayer and meditation will flow without hindrance. If you had lost faith in prayer, you will easily pick up the words and speak to your divine daddy lovingly again.
If you are a baby christian this is the moment to cherish because you are now learning to be in his presence. To strike a new relationship with God.
As you continue on this path and prayer direction, this is how you will know to combine prayer with faith and commit to prayers for yourself, your family, career, business, relationships including many other areas that concern you.
Your closer intimacy with Father God will bring you more understanding in the area of prayer and faith. Without the understanding, you will simply be praying amiss. I must point out here too that this intimacy will draw you into his word. You will love reading the big manual of life, the bible.
So going back to the scripture I made reference to earlier in this article, there\’s something to learn about Jesus and his praying. This is what ministered to me from the passage of scripture.
when God desires to take us further in our call and purpose for our life, as individuals, He calls us to go further in our prayer life. And in order to go a little further in our purpose, we must purpose to go a little further in our prayers.
Sometimes in order to change our prayer direction it requires an extra effort or a greater intention on our part. Most times our prayer and faith needs to be elevated in our set priorities. And just to throw in this it\’s important to understand that for prayer to be effective at the group level such as family or business or at work and even ministry level it must start from an individual level.
Now that you know you want to experience a new prayer direction or prayer dimension, what will be your priority this year? And what will you commit to in this year? Is it prayer? Good!

We are still at the very beginning of the year and this is one of the best times to rethink, prioritize, commit and be inspired to embark on fervent prayer without ceasing on a very personal level.
Are you still going to ask, \”can prayer change things\”? Change your prayer direction today. From now when you discipline yourself in prayer and meditation you will experience a new dimension with prayers coming from your heart to the Father\’s heart!
I will see you at the very top, at the prayer summit intimately having a wonderful prayer fellowship with Abba Father. How exciting that is, just to think about it.
I would love for you to connect with me. Do you require help in the area of your prayer life. Let\’s connect. I am ready to help.
